To incentive capital into these markets the Opportunity Zone Program is offering Capital Gains Tax Deferral and Abatement in addition to complete elimination of the Capital Gains tax on your Opportunity Fund Investment if held for 10 years.

Currently, the Program is set up so that you receive the greatest benefit by investing before the end of 2019 – Yikes! Does that mean the program is only good for one year. Well, not really.

In fact, if data is assimilated and presented to law makers to show that this program is working – meaning Capital Dollars are flowing into low income communities and to projects that are bringing jobs, providing services and/or boosting tax revenue of the local governments – lawmakers should be lining up to sign an extension of this program to make it more permanent.
